Our 1st grade students are hard workers and they love learning! So far this semester, here is what we have learned. 1st grade students can...
-begin to sing the alphabet in Spanish!
-count to 10 with ease, and maybe able to count to 20 or even 30!
-name some school supplies that they have.
- name some farm animals in Spanish.
- say what animals they like.
-name some members of the family
-describe some of their family members, especially hair and eye color
-name several different fruits, vegetables, and other foods
-talk about healthy and unhealthy foods

Below you will find the current week's lesson plans. Please keep in mind that lessons and activities can (and frequently do) change depending upon student engagement, ability and mastery level. This is a rough draft of what will happen in class. With young students, anything can happen! As a teacher, I plan for that and allow flexibility in my lessons to ensure that students are receiving the most appropriate instruction possible.
Lesson Plans for the weeks of May 9-13, May 16-20, and May 23-26:
Lunes (Monday) 5/9
We will discuss healthy and unhealthy food choices. Students will practice sorting foods into categories of "saludable (healthy)" and "no saludable (unhealthy)"
Miércoles (Wednesday) 5/11
Students will be introduced to their PBA for this unit. They will be drawing and labeling a healthy meal in Spanish and presenting it to the class. Due Wednesday, May 18.
Lunes (Monday) 5/16
Students will continue working on their PBA. Please see above for a copy of the handout. Due Wednesday!
Miércoles (Wednesday) 5/18
Students will present their meals to the class!
Lunes (Monday) 5/23
No Spanish class -- Career Day
Miércoles (Wednesday) 5/25
Students will have a fun-filled class to review and celebrate all that we've learned this year!
